The director of the African Coconut Group, Mr. Kwaku Boateng, has urged the Ghanaian youth to channel their attention to the coconut industry in Ghana, and to take the available support structures in there seriously.

He explained why initiatives like the Coconut Revitalization Programme and Planting For Export And Rural Development portray the government’s agenda in thickening the coconut value chain.

Stressing on the sector’s potential to alleviate unemployment, he revealed that there has always been a ready market for coconut products locally and internationally.

According to him, the coconut industry has the capacity to ease the unemployment canker because the Coconut Federation harbors five operational wings which includes nursery operators, producers, vendors, processors and exporters.

It is believed that the 4th International Coconut Festival dubbed as ‘Empowering Lives Through Coconut Innovation, Employment And Sustainable Livelihoods‘ would help spread more awareness about the endless opportunities made available within the coconut production sector.

The festival is bound to hold for three days ending on October 23, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
