The Majority Leader, Afenyo Markin, on behalf of the majority caucus of parliament, has called on former president to accept a debate request by the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
According to the Member of Parliament for Effutu, accused the former president of running away from a presidential debate with Dr. Bawumia
‘’Debate is the only means to determine who is best suited to lead the country” he added
At a rally in the Northern Ghana, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia accused the former president of running away from a debate.
In his estimation, the former president is reluctant to engage in a debate, because the exercise will expose the vacuousness of his campaign promises.
This demanding own criticism from the members of the opposition National Democratic Congress, with many calling on the Vice President to focus on fixing the economy rather than demanding for a debate.
Others have called on the Vice President to answer all 170 questions he posed to former Vice President, late Amissah Arthur.
But in a press conference, the majority leader urged the former president to avail himself of a debate.
He also indicated that the New Patriotic Party is confident on the figures and facts about the economy and ready to debate the former president any day. ‘’We concede that there are challenges, but we also know that our track record is far better than that of the National Democratic Congress,’ he added
