The Government of Ghana is fully absorbing electricity bills for the poorest of the poor who consume zero(0) to fifty(50) kilowatts hours a month for the period.
The President of Ghana made this known to the public during his “up date no.6″ address to the nation last night. He said ” Government will fully absorb electricity bills for the poorest of the poor, i.e for all lifeline consumers, that is free electricity for persons who consume zero(0) to fifty (50) kilowatt hours a month for this period”
He further said ” In addition for all other consumers, residential and commercial ,Government will absorb, again fifty percent (50%) of your electricity bill for this period, using your March 2020 bill as your benchmark. eg, if your electricity bill was one hundred cedis (100), you will pay only fifty cedis (50), with Government absorbing the remaining fifty cedis (50).
He further revealed that, this is been done to support industry, enterprises and the service sector in these difficult times, and to provide some relief to households for the lost income.
He further urged Ghanaians to exercise discipline in their use of electricity and water.
Ghana has so far recorded a total 378 confirmed cases of Covid-19, out this total number, 6 have lost their lives, 4 have recovered, 366 persons are well and responding to treatment, 2 are critical/moderately ill.
