Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tamale South Constituency have expressed their anger on the removal of the former minority leader Honourable Haruna Iddrissu as the Minority Leader in Parliament.
The party member led by the Tamale South NDC Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Sumani expressed their anger with the party’s National Leadership in the person of the National Chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and General Secretary Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwettey.
Calling for the immediate reversal of the decision, the party Chairman said, “We have never witnessed anything like this since 1992. We do not understand. Why do they want to sabotage Haruna Iddrisu? The key message we want to send to the party’s National Chairman and General Secretary is that the decision is not good. Nobody is aware of this. It was only the party leadership that did this. The decision should be reversed within 24 hours.”
The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Honourable Muntala Mohammed, has also expressed his concern about the party’s leadership decision and their lack of consultation with the minority caucus of parliament before effecting changes in parliament.
In an interview with Asempa FM on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, “The timing is wrong. What is the basis of changing our parliamentary leadership?” He said.

“They are only taking away the most experienced leaders and bringing the less experienced ones. Nobody told them we are dissatisfied with the leadership. Who told them we are unhappy with their performance?” He added.
The leadership of the NDC replaced Minority leader Hon. Haruna Iddrissu, Deputy Minority Leader Hon. James Klutse Avedzi and Minority Chief Whip Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka.
They ousted parliamentary leadership were replaced with Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson as the Minority Leader, Hon. Kofi Armah Buah as the Deputy Minority Leader and Hon. Kwame Agbodza as the Minority Chief Whip.
