Veteran Journalist, Kwasi Pratt has whittle down on the impact of the Mid-year fiscal review on Ghana’s economic fortunes.

Dr. Amin Adam, the minister of finance is expected to apprise parliament of Ghana’s economic and financial status in the mid-year budget review, later today, July 23, 2024.

This will be the first time he is undertaking this constitutional exercise as Minister, taking over from Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, as Finance Minister.

Ahead of the mid-year fiscal review, the minority has called on the government to scrap some taxes and levies, including COVID-19 levies, E-levy and Sanitation levy, which are proving needlessly hurtful.

But commenting on Peace FM’s KOKROKOO program, Mr. Pratt remarked that he does not expect any surprising or marveling outcomes from the exercise.

According to the Editor, much of the current economic and financial volatility could be blamed on the uncertainties in global economies.

He contends that over the years Ghana has not benefited from being a beneficiary of foreign debt forgiveness.

He noted that the conditions that compelled Ghana to get into the HIPC programme in the early 2000s, have worsened, disputing suggestions that Ghana’s economy was rebounding.

Mr. Pratt urged the Minister to focus on issues that are fundamental to the livelihood of Ghanaians.
