The Accra Metropolitan AssemblyPublic Health Officers have arrested 23 traders at the Agbogbloshie market for selling foodstuffs on bare floors .

The arrest was made on Wednesday  with the AMA in collaboration with Multimedia Group (Joy News/ Joy FM) on the resumed “Clean Ghana campaign” a movement that seeks to help enforce waste management laws to the public and educate the public on how to manage waste.

Most of these traders sold foodstuff overexposed to sunlight and some of the foodstuffs were sold near choked gutters which made it unhealthy and unhygienic.

The Mayor of Accra, Hon Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, expressed her disappointment and displeasure of how these traders were selling foodstuffs. She also  joined the team and ordered the immediate removal of all traders selling on streets into the markets where they have proper shed.

The AMA boss insisted that the Assembly will no longer show mercy in dealing with such offenders anymore.
