Following reports that Tiger Eye P.I. was denied permission to screen their documentary, ‘Galamsey Economy,’ at the Accra International Conference Centre, the Centre’s management has come out to deny the claim.
According to Vivian K. A. Asempapa, Director of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), the AICC has not stated that the venue is unavailable for the screening.
She explained that, while there was a scheduling error, it had no effect on the event.
As a result, she has urged the public to disregard claims that the alleged cancellation was politically motivated.

“The original uncertainty was caused by a scheduling dispute at the AICC staff level, not by any political decision, as has been suggested.”
“The situation has been resolved. “We have contacted the organizers, and the event is expected to go ahead as planned,” she said.
Her comments follow a press release from Tiger Eye alleging that the AICC had cancelled the venue reservation less than 48 hours before the showing of the ‘Galamsey Economy’ documentary.
Tiger Eye P.I. declared in a press statement announcing the snafu that they had “already satisfied all condition of AICC to utilize the site including payment for the venue despite last minute adjustment in cost by approximately per cent (30%).”
“Tiger Eye is disturbed that just 48 hours before the public screenings, when invites were extended to the diplomatic community and other high-profile figures in society, and fliers were distributed to the public,” they continued.
The AICC, on the other hand, has stated that the allegation was merely a misunderstanding and that the venue is still available to host the screening on Monday and Tuesday (November 14 and 15).
