MTN, AIRTEL reduces Momo Charges by 25%

The Ghana Chambers of Telecommunication, and its mobile money operators, Airtel and MTN, have announced a 25% reduction in MOMO charges.

The Chamber also stated that having followed national discussions on the E-levies, they have had extensive discussions with the government on the need to lessen the impact on consumers.

‘’Our customer services centers would be ready to provide to customer’s assistance during the implementation of e-levies. We pledge our commitment to our customers and we would continue to develop innovative products and services,’’ the statement reads in part.

According to the Chamber, MTN and Airtel have agreed to revise downwards, persons to person transfers, their MOMO charges, as part of efforts to reduce the impact of the proposed E-levies on customers.

The statement stated that the move forms part of efforts by the Chamber and its members to balance the convenience of digital financial platforms and the need to support national digital transformation.
