Twenty persons which comprises of 3 Males and 4 males who are Nigerians, 12 Commercial motorcycle operators and One(1) American Citizen were arrested on the Ghana togo border on.
Speaking to the press, Mr Laud Ofori-Afrifa, the Deputy Comptroller General of Operations of Ghana Immigration Service told the media that there have been several attempts of people trying to enter Ghana illegally through the Aflao border.
He revealed that the American in their custody might have crossed the border by the help of other officials across . he further said
“It was noted that he (the American) had landed at the Lome airport (Togo) on the 20th of March from the USA… He was referred to the health officials and tested… which proved negative but he is under arrest and detention and is being sent into mandatory quarantine”.
Mr Ofori-Afrifa also disclosed that some seven Nigerians and 12 commercial motorcycle riders (Okada) were also arrested Tuesday (March 23). The motorbikes have been impounded and will later deal with the matter after directives have been issued from our discussion
He said on March 23, seven Nigerians (3 males and four females) were arrested at the border for entering Ghana ilegally and they were sent back across the border to Togo.
He further revealed that a Ghanaian Doctor who flew in through Lome and entered illegally has been arrested, checks from his passport shows he flew in from America. He said they are watching the Ghana-Togo Border very well because Ethiopia Airlines still flies to Togo from the western world.
He further sent a word of caution to people out there that , Ghana’s Borders are shut and any attempt to breach it will be dealt with drastically.
