Everton have fired Frank Lampard following their 2-0 loss to West Ham United.
On Monday, Everton’s ownership made the choice to part ways with Lampard.
Lampard’s team were defeated 2-1 by 20th-placed Southampton last weekend, prompting the board to act, despite Everton being only one point from the bottom of the table on goal difference.
The Merseyside club has only won three Premier League games this season, with the most recent coming on October 22 against Crystal Palace. So far in the division, no team has won fewer games.
Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, along with much-criticised long-serving chairman Bill Kenwright, attended his first game in 14 months at West Ham. When questioned by Sky Sports during the game, Moshiri said it was not up to him to decide Lampard’s future.
The club has yet to sign anyone in the January transfer window, but spent more than £80 million in the summer, including the £33 million signing of Amadou Onana from Lille and the £20 million purchase of Dwight McNeil from Burnley, after receiving £60 million from Tottenham for Brazil forward Richarlison.
