Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication and legal team, Abraham Amaliba has blamed the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the rise of indiscipline in secondary schools in the country.
Lawyer Abraham Amaliba mentioned that his statement is based on the fact that the students are trained and managed by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In an interview on Prime Morning show, he talked about the recent popular video of 3 students of Chiana Senior High School insulting the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, people should rather blame the trainers and not the students.
“If you condemn the students, then you need to condemn the stakeholders and the educational system. It only shows the mess that our educational system has fallen into.
“Stakeholders here mean the parents, teachers and the educational authorities (the GES). And so much as the video is in bad state, I’ll also like to say that there’s growing indiscipline in our secondary schools, and if we all agree that there’s growing indiscipline, it means that Stakeholders including the GES have failed,” he stated.
Talking about the dismissal of the students by the GES, he stated that it was wrong to bring out such punishment to the students.
“Is meant to destroy, it is not meant to correct. It is not reformative.
“A good educational system is supposed to punish and correct,” he said.
He also pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to temper justice with mercy before the matter gets to court.
“He should temper justice with mercy; step in before the matter gets to court. If he does that, this for me, will show that he is a caring President,” he said.
