Managing Director for the Intercity STC, Nana Akomea has blamed the National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament for the melee that engulfed the parliamentary sitting of December 20th 2021.

According to Nana  Akomea, the shameful specter in parliament on December 20th 2021 could have been avoided if the Minority had not adopted an entrenched posture towards the 2022 budget statement and economic policy of government.

‘‘This Finance Minister had agreed to four of the Minority’s five conditions for accepting the budget. Why can’t they compromise on just one that bothers on the E-levies,’’ he quizzed.

The Former Okaikwei South Member of Parliament, who was Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show programme, also took issue with the Speaker’s decision to vacate his seat in the manner in which he did.

‘‘There can be no justification for what the Speaker did. He just returned from a Medical trip , so I don’t see the point for him to vacate his seat in the manner in which he did. I cant see how the Speaker can be absolved of culpability in this chaotic situation in Parliament yesterday,’’ Nana Addo stated.

He noted that although a lot of people are not comfortable paying taxes, taxes are the only ways governments can raise funds to finance its projects.

The former Minister of Information under the erstwhile Kufuor government, however remarked that the push backs and resistance that is associated with tax policies can be reduced if people believe and see that their taxes are being used to improve on their lots.
