Ahead of the National Annual Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party, Member of Parliament of Tamale Central Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed has alleged deep-seated cracks within the ruling New Patriotic Party
‘’You don’t need anyone to tell you that there are deep cuts in the party. The NPP is already bruise,” he alleged.
He predicted that attempt to install a new flagbearer for the party will be muddy and expose the deep seated cracks in the party.
He made this statement on Metro TV’s Inside Page.
According to the Former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry these cracks is as results of biases towards Dr. Bawumia.
He alleged that he has been privy to a conversation, in which one of the aspiring candidates expressed misgivings about the biases in the flagbearership election processes.
In his view, because Bawumia cannot insulate himself from all the rot in the current government, Nana Addo is banking on his lieutenant to protect him.
Reports of widespread internal jostling for the flagbearership position has been pronounced, with key government functionaries at the center of this campaigns.
This has prompted leadership of the party to issue directive to all aspirants, prohibiting any forms of political campaigns ahead of the Delegate’s Conference.
In a similar fashion, President Nana Addo Danquah has also instructed that persons nursing Presidential ambitions, whilst still as Ministers, should resign from his government.
