On August 1, 2025, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office in Paris requested that Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan national team defender Achraf Hakimi face trial for alleged rape charges stemming from an incident in February 2023.

A 24-year-old woman accused Hakimi of sexually assaulting her at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt after they connected via Instagram. She reported the incident to police on February 26, 2023, alleging non-consensual acts, including kissing, touching, and forced intercourse.

She initially did not file a formal complaint but later provided messages to investigators detailing her distress. Hakimi was indicted on March 3, 2023, and placed under judicial supervision.Hakimi denies the allegations, claiming the encounter was consensual and accusing the woman of attempting extortion. His lawyer, Fanny Colin, has called the charges “incomprehensible” and maintains that evidence, including psychological evaluations, supports Hakimi’s innocence.

The woman’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, expressed relief at the prosecution’s request, stating it aligns with her client’s account. If the investigating judge approves the indictment, Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Paris Saint-Germain has supported Hakimi, stating trust in the justice system. The case awaits the judge’s decision on whether it will proceed to trial.
