The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the academic calendar for all government schools for 2023.
The calendar is intended for Senior High, Senior High Technical Schools, Junior High Schools, Primary Schools, and Kindergarten students.
The GES in a statement issued on February 8, 2023, directed all regional directors in the country to ensure that heads of schools for Basic and Second Cycle Schools in their respective regions comply to the calendar accordingly.
“Regional Directors are by this letter directed to ensure that Heads of Schools for Basic and Second Cycle Schools in their respective regions take note of the provisions in the attached calendar and comply accordingly to facilitate a smooth running of the academic year,” GES said in the statement.
The GES stated that double-track students in form 3 [three] who started school on January 10, 2023 will be on break from April 6 -16, 2023, and will return on April 17, 2023.
The students will then take another break from June 2 to 8, 2023. They will return to school on June 9 and will continue to stay in the school until September 15, 2023, when the academic year for the first term end.
JHS 3 students will be on vacation from March 25 to April 2, 2023, according to GES. They will return for a second term on April 3, 2023. They will then take another vacation from June 16 to June 26, 2023. They will return to school for the third time on June 27, 2023.
The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) will begin in September 2023, according to GES.
