An autopsy report from the GA east pathologist has revealed cause of death of Shadrach Arloo as asphyxiation and obstruction of airway by a foreign body.
Shadrach Arloo, 32, died after an altercation with private security guards and a police officer who were attempting to search his bag at the West Hills mall.
He was allegedly beaten and tased to death by one of the said men when he resisted their advances, according to some eyewitness.
According to the autopsy report, the deceased had actually ingested what the police believed to be marijuana.
The police pathologist found eight zipped packets of dry leaves that were likely drug-related in the deceased’s throat, tied with a piece of black polythene.
According to a police statement, the retrieved substances tested positive for cannabis when submitted for forensic examination in the presence of all the interested parties.
It is believed the deceased had swallowed the substances during his altercation with the police.
The case docket, the Police stated, is being forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for study and advice to determine further police action.
“We would like to put on record that from the very beginning of this incident, the Police have involved all interested parties in the investigation process,” part of the police statement read.
“It is therefore a matter of regret and great dismay and we dare say un-Ghanaian that people who had all the information on the matter, would behave as though they had no idea of actions that were being taken by the police in respect of the case,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the police are urging the public to “exercise restraint and patience with matters that are under police investigation so that the pain of those who are directly affected by such incidents is not exacerbated.”
