Ghanaian private legal practitioner, Justice Abdulai, has filed a lawsuit against the department of the Attorney General and the Ghana Police over the recent appointment of Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the current Deputy Inspector General of Police.

“According to Article 202(2) of the 1992 constitution, the operational functions of the police service have been assigned to the Inspector General of Police and not to his deputy, likewise the President has no power to delegate any responsibilities in the police service to the Deputy Inspector General of Police.”

Justice Abdulai demanded the court to interprete and enforce the instructions of Articles 202(1), 202(2) and 202(3) as required in the 1992 Constitution.
