Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to run a transparent and accountable government where opportunities are shared equitably irrespective of religious or ethnic lines.
‘‘There will be no bedroom secret recruitment by any party chairman,’’ he promised.
He made these remarks while speaking at the NDC Youth Manifesto launch at the University of Professional Study on Monday, August 12 2024.
The event, which coincided with the International Youth Day, was attended by the rank and file of party’s supporters and fanatics across the country.
He expressed disgust at what he termed as the growing level of incompetence, misgovernance, corruption and nepotism in the country, which he considers, the major challenge of young people in the country.
According to the former president, the current Akuffo Addo-Bawumia led government has been hijacked by a small family cabal who are interested in pursuing their own commercial and personal interests.
He also promised that when elected into government, he will take steps to abolish the E-levy, Emission Tax, Betting tax and other taxes, that have harshly affected young people.
This years’ International Youth Day is themed ‘‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
