Ahead of the mi-d year budget review scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2024, some parliamentarians have been expressing mixed reactions regarding the exercise.

In an interview with TV3, which was closely monitored, some parliamentarians from the Minority side could be seen expressing pessimism about the outcome of the review.

Some of these parliamentarians are of the view that the review will not lead to any manifest change in the economic fortunes of Ghanaians.

‘‘There is absolutely nothing the finance minister can do to change the trajectory of the economy,’’

Others have called for the scrapping of some levies and taxes which are taking a toll on the populace.

‘‘Levies are not taxes. The E-levy, Sanitation Levy and other levies need to be scrapped’’

On their part some majority MPs are optimistic the mi-year review will serve to update Ghanaians on the gains made from the IMF program.

Ahead of the elections, the people of Ghanaians need to know how we could sustain the gains, especially in the elections.
