He attributed the high cost of living to the high prices of some traders in the country and discounted the view that the current economic hardship is roundly as a result of a failed economic fundamentals.

‘‘We are overstretching it, how can one tomato fruit cost GHC 5.I think we are over flogging the fundamentals and allowing the traders to over cheat us,’’  he stated.

He criticized penchant for Ghanaian traders to over inflate the prices of their goods, a situation that robs many of their disposal incomes.

‘‘There is something about the psyche of the Ghanaian trader and super normal profit’’, he observed.

Mr. Kpebu made these observations whilst commenting on the cost-of-living crises on TV3’s KeyPoint program.

He noted that while he will not make a case for the telling economic fundamentals, he is still of the view that some traders’ quest to make supernormal profits is fast taking a toll on people’s income.

He called on the government to find a way of controlling the overinflation of goods in the country by some traders, citing the Minister of Trades and Industry’s attempts to get an LI passed to control the increasing cement prices.
