The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Kwaku Baako junior has taken a swipe at Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the ruling New Patriotic Party.
According to the veteran journalist, NAPO’s comparison of the track record of Nana Akuffo Addo and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s premier president, was a needless distraction.
It is recalled that in a speech during his outdooring at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh provoked controversy by saying Nana Akuffo Addo is the most prolific president since independence.
‘‘Not even your Nkrumah can compare’, he stated.
This has since stoked embers on social media and traditional media, with many describing the running mate’s statements as disrespectful and disparaging.
Commenting on the development on Peace FM’s Kokrooko programme, Mr. Baako noted that Matthew Opoku chose the wrong platform for the statement.
He asserted that the running mate could have focused on the purpose of the unveiling than wading into such needless comparison.
Mr. Baako noted that while Dr. Opoku’s political ideological position is at variance with that of Dr. Nkrumah, his statement could not be justified.
