- The Convention People Party has called on the running mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party to apologize, retract and resign for denigrating the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
In a hotly worded statement, the party demanded the reaction, apology and resignation of NAPO over his description of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
During his acceptance speech at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh suggested that not even the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkruma compares to that of President Nana Akufo Addo.
This has since stoked the embers of controversy, drawing criticism across a cross section of the public.
Reacting, the CPP expressed shock and displeasure with the unprovoked attacks and disparaging comments by a person seeking the highest office of the land
They contend that Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s mannerisms and conduct is uncharacteristic of a person seeking a public office.
They cited numerous developmental projects including the establishment of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, which the running mate has himself been a beneficiary of, as reason that renders his unwarranted attacks reckless.
