In what can best be described as a sudden U-turn, the MP for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, says he believes the running mate to the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh,

This is in sharp contrast to his earlier comments when the selection of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was initially announced.

His apparent disagreement with the choice of NAPO stemmed from his fears over NAPO’s ability to unite and be submissive to the flagbearer.

‘’You need a unifier, someone who can be submissive to his leader. He (Matthew Opoku Prempeh) will not have been my choice,’’ he stated in his earlier reaction.

However, following the official unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh at a meeting of the party’s National Council, he appears to have softened his stance on NAPO.

‘‘Our National Council has spoken and endorsed it so anything we had said earlier becomes mote… For me it is the choice of the party and therefore I am committed to supporting the choice of the party’’, he stated.

He stated that as a true party member and leading member at that, he will not do anything that would frustrate the party’s reelection efforts.

He however appealed to the running mate to take on board the criticism that was made about him and rise to the challenge to ensure victory for the party in December.
