Guinness World Record has declared as untrue claims by a Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith certificate, that he is the new world record holder for the longest cooking individual.
In a much-publicized press conference held at the La Palm Hotel on Tuesday July 02, 2024, Chef Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, had claimed that he holds the World Record for the longest cooking marathon, after having cooked for over 800 hours.
Furthermore, he flaunted a certificate with GWR’s logo embossed to buttress his claim.
This announcement aroused an outpour of congratulatory messages across social and traditional media, with many hailing his persistence, leading to his eventually record breaking feat.
But per media reports, it appears the GWR is not aware of any of the claims that Chef Smith had made about breaking the record.
In a response to media enquiries regarding Chef Smith’s earlier claim, the GWR named Alan Fisher from Ireland as the current record holder for the longest cooking by an individual is still.
Denying any knowledge of Chef Smith and the accompanying certificate, GWR stated ‘‘We can confirm this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate.”
Meanwhile, the portal understands that Gunineess World Record has deactivated the longest cooking by an individual category.
