Buipewura demands arrest of Buipe clash culprits

Following an alleged attack on the Damongo District Police Station by the youth of Buipe, eight people who are thought to be youths from Damongo in the Savannah Region have sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds.

According to reports, the attack happened as a result of the Central Gonja District’s arrest of about seven Buipe youths. These young people destroyed and set ablaze buildings that belonged to a group of Fulani settlers.

Sources reveal that, The seven suspects were transferred to Damongo, the capital of the Savannah Region, however when the youth learned of the arrest, they surrounded the police station and demanded for the prisoners’ release.

This resulted in a confrontation between them and the police.

Gunshots were allegedly fired by the police, injuring eight people in the process.

Meanwhile, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II has ordered the arrest of the enraged youth who stormed a Fulani community in Buipe as a result of a continuing misunderstanding between the Jinapor palace and the youth

The Buipewura made the pronouncement in his palace on Monday, January 16, 2023.

According to the hun, the peace of Buipe can not be traded for any selfish interest of the youth.

The embattled Fulani Chief of Mande known as Bure Ibrahim has been de-skinned by Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II in response to the recommendations of a seven-member committee established by the Buipewura to investigate the recent revolt in Buipe.
