The Ghana Police have arrested two of the 16 wanted suspects in connection with the violent riot that occurred during the 10th National Youth and Women’s Conference of the National Democratic Congress at Cape Coast in the Central Region.

The suspects named Iddrisu Abass alias Jango, who is said to be the ring leader, and also Dawda Mohammed Nazir, were both arrested on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Kintampo and Wenchi respectively.

In the course of the raid, one of the suspect called Jango shot and wounded one of the policemen. The police officers also retaliated by shooting back at him leading to an injury on his leg.

Both the officer and the suspect are receiving medical treatment.

“The faces of the suspects have been shown because they had been declared wanted with their images already displayed in our quest to seek public assistance in getting them arrested,” the Ghana police said announcing the latest arrest.

They then continued to say that, “The targeted intelligence operations are still ongoing to arrest the remaining 12 suspects to face justice.”

This makes the number of arrested suspects 4 out of the wanted 16.
