Afrochella, one of Ghanaians favorite music and culture festivals will no longer return, said by the organizers.

The information was announced on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the end of the festival on the second day.

Mr. Abdul Abdullah announced that, “This is the last Afrochella,” he said to the fans present at the El-Wak stadium.

There was no specific reasons given for the decision.

The announcement was made after Burna Boy’s extraordinary performance, with hit songs like Last Last, Dangote and Angelina.

Despite the terrible news, fans were still in their moments and making the most out of it despite the fact that it was 3:00am.

Inspite of that, the fans affected by the news expressed their disappointment in it,

According to one woman, “I couldn’t believe it when they said Afrochella is over.”

Most of the crowd members were African Americans who traveled from the US or UK to have and feel the experience and also because the show is highly promoted by them.

One African American man said, “I’m shocked- this is what a lot of us in the diaspora look forward to at the end of the year.”

Another lady expressed her concern that, “There was something special about Afrochella that meant so much to African Americans like me. I think it’s gonna be hard to fill the void that they’ll leave.

Nevertheless, the show was thrilling and the artists and fans totally made the best out of it, despite some fails like Ayra Starr falling on stage during her performance.

In a post, she wrote, “Afrochella next time y’all should clean your stage after every artist’s performance, that fall was very unnecessary and painful,” blaming the organizers for the incident.

Despite the gap it’s going to leave in the list of the coming years festivities, other events like Detty December, Afronation, Bhim Concert and Freedom Wave are definitely going to make up for it.

It was among the events that authorities in Ghana hoped will draw the tourists from the African route to the country as part of its “Beyond Return” initiative.
