Eric Edem Agbana, the past Deputy National Youth Organizer has expressed his disappointment in the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
In an interview with TV3’s “New Day” show on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, he described him as a “monumental failure”.
“I was one of his fanatics but I can say that he has been a monumental failure,” he said .
He added that he used to admire the Minister when he was a deputy to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in the first term of government led by Akufo-Addo.
There has been a recent discussion regarding the increment of tertiary fees far beyond the agreed fees by parliament by some tertiary institutions.
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission(GTEC) has therefore asked the said universities to review the fees and make sure it gets in line with the parliamentary directives.
Mr. Agbana who stressed on the issue said, “We are in crisis when it comes to education funding.”
According to him, after the Finance Minister, Ken ofori-Atta, the Minister of Education is the worst performing minister.
The former President of University of Ghana, Students Representative Council (SRC) has also contributed to the discussions.
