Police arrest 5 employees of K Ofori Enterprise in connection to a Ghc 2.6m fraud

Five employees of Kwadwo Ofori Limited, one of Ghana’s largest provisions of building and construction materials have been remanded in connection to an alleged stealing of materials worth Ghc 2.6million.

Santa Nangba, a 27-year-old Sales Manager; Peter Bawla, 28-year-old Supervisor; William Dagadu, 27, Michael Jeffery, 28-year-old IT Technician and Felix Ofori -Boafo, a cashier were the accused remanded. 

The case which was presided by Judge Samuel Acquah, adjourned it to January 5, 2023, as police do more investigating over the matter. 

The accused persons who were trained by the complainant and were moved to another branch of the enterprise in Cape Coast, were said to have been supplied with lots of building materials including iron rods, cement etc to be sold at the branch in Cape Coast.

Sales Manager, “Nangba” was one of the accused persons that the complainant trusted with his work.

According to the prosecutor, before September, 2022, the accused persons requested for restock of bag of cements but the complainant realized there was 10,000 bags of cements already in stock which baffled him. 

This made the complainant suspicious of their actions and tried to get information from one of the employees in the company who later revealed that the accused person, had 10,000 bags of cement already in stock which he sold later on and didn’t make account for it. 

This made the complainant ask for his presence for further investigation and questioning but before that, he had his accountants make an audit of the accounts only to find out that stock worth Ghc 2,615,011 wasn’t in the records. 

During the investigation and questioning, the accused person admitted stealing the materials worth Ghc2.6 million and promised to refund them back.

However, this took so long which made the complainant reported the case to the police on December 20, 2022, and the accused persons were arrested.

According to the prosecution, the accused persons admitted to stealing the materials.

“Investigations revealed that the accused persons had sold the materials which were supplied to them without accounting for them,” he stated.
