Speaker Denies Report of PSB Dubai Meeting

The Speaker of Parliament, Right. Hon. Alban Bagbin has refuted allegations that, while away on a Medical trip, members of the Parliamentary Service Board joined him at Dubai for a meeting.

He noted that such allegations were untrue and not supported by any evidence.

In a statement to the press, the Speaker noted that at no point did members of the Parliamentary Service Board hold its end of year meeting in Dubai, at his instructions or instance.

Sections of the media had reported of the supposed meeting of member of the PSB in Dubai.

The reports suggested that the meeting was chaired by the Speaker and had the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Leader of Government Business, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, among others as members, in attendance.

This has since gone viral, generating conversation across both mainstream and social media.

The statement , however, clarified that PSB participated in an international workshop and team-building exercise by the Crown Agents in Dubai, the arrangement for the workshop preceded the Speaker of Parliament’s medical trip to Dubai.

The statement noted that the date for the international workshop in Dubai, had nothing in common with the Speaker’s medical trip in Dubai, as both were held weeks apart.
