Management of Media General has raised objection with the arrest of Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart.
News about the arrest of Captain Smart, host of Onua FM/TV Morning Show, went viral yesterday, December, 02, 2021.
In a Press Statement announcing the arrest, the police noted that the arrest followed some unsavory pronouncements, by the presenter, that hinges on the peace and security of the country.
The statement further noted that Captain Smart was being held at the Nima Divisional Command, assisting with investigations.
But a Press Statement by the Head of Corporate Affairs for Media General group disagreed with Ghana Police over the arrest.
‘’Today’s arrest and detention of Captain Smart is by no means an isolated incident, but just one more egregious example of intolerance increasingly creeping into the Ghanaian society,’’ the statement reads in part.
The company further noted that the statement by Captain Smart does not amount to threat to the Peace and Stability of the country, as claimed by the Police.
Media General further raised concerns over the trend of arrest of journalists and media practitioners on the country.
