About 10 people were injured when a man stabbed them with a knife on a Tokyo commuter train late night on Friday.
The Tokyo Fire department responded to a call at 8:38 p.m. and found victims with bloodstains when they arrived at the scene. The department said all victims were conscious and one person walked away on their own.
Even though no deaths have been reported, one victim, a female student, was said to be seriously injured, while the others suffered less severe injuries.
According to Japan’s public broadcaster, the 36-year-old suspect walked to a convenience store and turned himself in, saying to the clerk, “I am the suspect of the crime that’s playing in the news right now. I’m tired of running.”
Tokyo Metropolitan Police say the man admitted the charge and confessed he “just wanted to kill any women who looked happy, anyone.”

Sources said the incident occurred on an Odakyu Line train, between Seijogakuen-mae station and Soshigaya-Okura station in Setagaya Ward.
It is known that violent crimes are rare in Japan but there has recently been a series of violent knife attacks by some unknown assailants.
