Ministry of Finance Issues Presser on GoG Covid-19 Expenditure

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) in a Press Release January 25, 2023 has given a response on the Auditor General’s report on Government of Ghana (GoG) Covid-19 expenditure for the period March 2020 to June 2022.

The Ministry, commended the work of the Auditor General on the publication of the Special Audit Report of the Government of Ghana Covid-19 expenditure which was commissioned by the MoF on July 14, 2022.

The Ministry also provided a background clarification to some aspect of the report.

It explained that the total amount of resources mobilised for the Covid-19 response from March 2020 to June 2022 sums to GHC 21,844,189,185.24.

These funds were to direct Covid-19 intervention expenditures and support funding gap in the budget which was occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on revenue mobilization.

It was added that the 53.4% and 46.2% spent on direct Covid-19 intervention was approved by Parliament.

The Ministry assured the public that steps are being taken to address the issue.
