Russian soldier beats Chief Commander to death

A senior sergeant has been arrested for beating his Chief commander to death in the Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation.

It has been confirmed that the soldier was drunk and was engaged in an altercation with his commander, which led to the death of the commander.

According to Ukrinform, reported by Radio Liberty, the incident occurred on the train.

In an updated article on violence against a military superior, on September 24, days after Putin announced “Partial mobilization” in Russia, it has been declared that, if the crime took place during a war period or mobilization, it would require for a harsh penalty.

Therefore, the sergeant is looking to face 5 to 15 years in prison since the issue is regarded as a criminal case.

Violent incidents involving intoxicated soldiers, have been rampant in military units, therefore leading to a halt in recruitment.

Nevertheless, mobilization has started in regards to the war against Ukraine, as announced by Vladimir Putin on September 21.
