The President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has told members of the Presbyterian Church in Accra that the cathedral is going to serve as a special offering to God for saving Ghanaians from the effects of the civil wars.

He said, It will be to show gratitude to God for “sparing us the ravages of civil war that have bedeviled the histories of virtually all our neighbors and the outbreak of deadly mass epidemics but also as a rallying point for the entire Christian community of Ghana, which represents seventy-plus percent of the population.”

He also asks for Ghanaians to continue praying to God to enable unity and peace to continue prevailing in the country.

The national cathedral has been known to spike some controversies in relation to the current economic state of the country but the president assures the people that he is confident in his decision that the cathedral will also serve as a collective thanksgiving to God for the blessings he has bestowed on the country.

He urges  Ghanaians to support him relentlessly with prayers, for the almighty God to grant him wisdom, courage and compassion to fulfill his duties as the leader of the nation.
