The 2022 Ballon d’Or (French: Ballon d’Or) will be the 66th annual ceremony of the Ballon d’Or, presented by France Football Association, and recognizing the best footballers in the world in the 2021–22 season.
Since 1956, the men’s Ballon d’Or has been presented to the greatest player in each year. The France Football Prize is widely regarded as the highest individual football honor in the world.
The event this year will be held on Monday, October 17, at the Theatre du Chatalet in Paris, France. For the first time, the 2022 Ballon d’Or will be given to the best player of the 2021/22 season rather than the best player of the calendar year.
Lionel Messi was the winner last season, but he is not on the list of nominees this year for the first time in 17 years. Cristiano Ronaldo (five) and Lionel Messi (six) have won the award a total of 11 times since 2008.
