A former Member of Parliament for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh has said that the current Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta should be replaced with former Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah,
He said whiles in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on the New Day show on TV3 Tuesday September 27, 2022.
According to Mr. Addai-Nimoh, Ofori-Atta has kept long at the Finance Ministry hence, the need for his reshuffle.
He suggested that he should be sent to either Health or Foreign Affairs Ministry.
He added that Dr. Assibey-Yeboah who also served on the Finance Committee of the 7th Parlaiment, has the requisite skills and competence in Finances to head the Finance Ministry for which he should be considered.
“A reshuffle of the Finance Minister would have been ideal but the back stops with the president.
“Of course I would have reshuffled him to another ministry like Health or Foreign Affairs and replace him with people like Assibey-Yeboah. Assibey-Yeboah is no more an MP and Ofori-Atta is also not an MP,” he said.
His statement comes after President Akufo-Addo speaking on North Star Radio in Tamale as part of his two-day tour of the Northern Region on Monday August 8, 2022, said he was satisfied with the work of his appointees.
“Many of them for me have done outstanding work.
“Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at.
“If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call,” the president said when asked for his views on calls to reshuffle his ministers by the host of the show.
