Dr. Casiel Ato Falson Calls for Calm

The Ranking Member for the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr. Casiel Ato Forson  has called for calm, amidst allegation of financial loss charges.

Reports went viral yesterday that the Former Deputy Minister for Finance, with two others, has been dragged to the Accra High Court by the Attorney-General over their roles that caused a financial loss.

Facts of those reports had it that Cassiel Ato Forson, a former Chief Director of the Ministry of Health; Sylvester Anemana, and a businessman; Richard Jakpa are alleged to have caused the state to lose €2.37 million in a deal to purchase 200 ambulances for the country between 2014 and 2016.

The three are to face five counts of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, abetment to wilfully cause financial loss to the state, contravention of the Public Procurement Act, and intentionally misapplying public property.

The deal involving the purchase of 200 was suspended by the then National Democratic Congress government, as the first consignments of ambulance were reportedly below the required specifications and standards.

The faulty and substandard nature of the first 30 batch of ambulances caused public uproar, with many calling for an investigation.This caused the country to lose some $2.4 million.

But responding to the development, the Member of Parliament for the Ajumako, Enyan, Essiam constituency has called for calm as he prepares to officially respond to the issues on Friday, 24, December 2021. 

He stated that the initiation of criminal charges against him by the Akuffo Addo government is nothing but the machinations of the State just because he stands with the good people of Ghana to oppose repressive policies of this government.
