Ghana Uncovers Iron Ore in Commercial Quantities in Oti Region.

The Ghana Geological Survey Authority has announced the discovery of iron ore in commercial quantities in the Oti region of Ghana.

The latest addition to Ghana’s mineral resources was discovered in Akokrowa, a farming community in Oti region of Ghana.

The Geological Survey Authority reports that the discovered iron ore is of a higher-grade and is weighs 55.22 percent (fe).

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Jinapor, who is on a two-day working visit to the Volta region, assured traditional authorities and the indigenes that the mineral will be exploited to the benefits of the people in the community.

The Minister also assured residence that he will facilitate an engagement between the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation works, Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) and the community to ensure that the full value chain is retained in the region and the country.

He maintained that the exploration of the iron ore will provide jobs and boost economic activities in Oti region and the whole of the country.

For his part, the  Omanhene of the Apesokubi Traditional Area, Okogyeaman Koram II, assured the Minister of close collaboration and support of the traditional authority.

He also pledged support for Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation, Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) and the government.

He also pledged not to hesitate in releasing lands to expand and advance the exploration processes, when required.
