President Nana Addo Danquah has touted his government’s achievements in the fight against corruption.

According to him, since independence, his government has undertaken the boldest initiative to reform and strengthen capacities of institutions to tackle corruption in the public sector.

He made this statement at the National Anti-corruption conference, a forum set to deliberate on how to reduce corruption in the country.

He remarked that his presidency has shown leadership in the corruption fight by allowing independent bodies like CHRAJ and CID to investigate allegations of corruptions that have been leveled against people in his government.

‘‘It is not my job to clear or convict any person accused of any wrongdoing or acts of corruption. That is the job of the courts. My job is to acts on acts of allegations by referring the matters to the appropriate institutions,’’ he noted.

President Nana Addo cited the passage of the Right to Information Acts 2019 (989), the Witness Protection Acts 2018 (975), and the setting up of the office of the Special Prosecutor, as some of his government’s bold initiative against corruption.
