The Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, HON. Carlos Ahenkorah has said that persons who cannot pay the E-levies should avoid using Momo.

The E-levies, has sparked controversies since its introduction in the 2022 budget statement.

The government asserts that funds from the levies will help the government to improve upon infrastructure, and support youth entrepreneurial projectes.

The Minority has insisted the side will oppose the 2022 if same was not scrapped

Pressure groups such as Justice for Ghana and Fixed the Country, have also impressed upon government to abandon plans to tax electronic transactions, especially momo

But reacting to these strings of opposition, Chairman of the Trade and Industry Committee of Parliament raised issue with the agitations.

To him, the E-levies will only be paid by persons who use electronic services, as same was not compulsory.

”The e-levies are very targeted. They are for persons who can pay and not for everyone. You can decide to avoid using momo, if you cannot pay,” he stated.
