Local oil marketing company, GOIL has debunked suggestion that the 15 pesewas reduction on fuel prices was as results of government’s directive.
On Monday, Drivers Unions across the country embarked on a strike action to demanded reduction in fuel prices.
This brought untoward hardship on commuters as they were left stranded.
The Driver Unions were subsequently invited for an engagement at the Presidency by the Chief of Staff.
Following this, GOIL announced a 15 pesewas reduction in prices of fuel across the country.
Some media reports had quoted the Association of Oil Marketing companies of having said that this reduction by GOIL was as a result of government prompting
The Association of oil Marketing Companies was of the view that the directive defeated the very purpose of deregulation.
Responding to this claims, Group Chief Executive of Goil, Kwame Osei Prempeh, has decribed the allegations as baseless and unfounded.
