Having gone under recent scrutiny for being the brain behind the arrests of the anti-galamsey demonstrators, the President of the Republic of Ghana has decided to debunk all such accusations.

During an interview with the press of France 24, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo made it clear that he had no business ordering arrests of the protestors.

“I am not responsible for jailing people in Ghana. Courts in Ghana are independent institutions, able to do the right thing without being coerced.”

The President went on to address the fact that most of the arrested protesters violated certain ethics in demonstration and that was why the law dealt with them.

According to further explanation from His Excellency, individuals who are up to mischief and resort to misbehaving are liable to punishment and that has got nothing to do with political affiliations or the Executive arm of government.
