The Minister for Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Brian Acheampong has insisted that he did not wrong in asserting the ruling New Patriotic Party will win the elections by any means necessary.
It is recalled that at a rally in Nsawam, Mr. Brian Acheampong was captured saying that the NPP will win the elections by any possible means, and that anyone who disagreed could burn the sea.
In the highly charged political atmosphere, the MP could be heard saying:
‘‘We are a political party. We have Pastors, Imama and Traditionalist. We will win the elections by any means necessary. You can burn the sea if you do not understand’’
These comments have roundly been condemned by some sections of the public, most of whom have called for a retraction and apology.
But speaking on Citi Fm’s Eyewitnesses program, Mr. Acheampong insisted that his comments were harmless.
He noted that people have misconstrue his no mean necessary comment, explaining that
‘‘We have worked the numbers, and we know we are winning,’’ he added.
