In what appears to be the biggest labour show down in recent time, organized labor has directed its member to stay off work effective Monday, July 15 2024.

This comes a day after the Miniter of Pensions had indicated to parliament that the National Pensions Regulatory Authority has given the deal the green light.

But in a media conference organized labor has urged its members stay off work until the planned sale of SSNIT hotels is cancelled.

Organized labor contends that rather than sell these hotels, which SSNIT claims are not making profit, SSNIT should get competent managers to run the facilities.

Organized labor maintains that the sale be stopped.

Following the announcements various labour groups, including Ghana Medical Association, Ghana National Association of Teachers, Trades Union Congress, Judicial Service Staff,  National Graduates Teachers Associations, among others have announced their intention to stay off work.

Meanwhile Rock city, the company at the center of this acquisitions, have reportedly withdrawn from the deal.

In a terse letter addressed to SSNIT, management expressed concerns about SSNIT inability to better engage its stakeholders on the matter, leading to a sustained public outcry.
