Some Ghanaian students on the Government of Ghana scholarship under the “Ghana Scholarship Secretariat” are reportedly stranded in the United Kingdom (UK) over the delay in releasing their fees and stipends.
Some of these students are been dismissed while others are being chased by their schools and landlords to pay their rent.
According to close sources, some of the students have not yet received over 8 months’ stipend, which is making their situation worse.
Some of them are stuck there because they cannot make any money to return to Ghana. Some are also reported to have been sued by their landlords for refusing to pay rent.
The students are begging he government to immediately rescue them from this disaster.
A petition online has already been started by some Ghanaians to gather signatories to force the Government of Ghana to help the students.
“The Government of Ghana should act immediately to rescue these stranded citizens and to save the nation from disgrace,” a statement on the online platform said.
