Member of parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo has renewed her commitment to the New Patriotic Party.

Following her extended absence from the House and the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection in 2021 Adwoa Safo became the focus of numerous media discussions.

The former Deputy Majority Leader requested a leave of absence in 2021 to handle personal matters, but according to a statement dated Wednesday, October 6, 2021, signed and issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin, Adwoa Safo’s leave was further extended indefinitely. Originally scheduled to end on August 31, 2021.

The politician refused to provide an explanation for her extended absence from the House, despite efforts by the Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

President Akufo-Addo subsequently relieved her of responsibilities as Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Upon her return from the United States, she pledged to remain in Parliament and represent her constituents.
