The discovery of an unidentified body in a small grave next to the school’s park on Tuesday afternoon sent the students of the St. Aiden Anglican elementary school in Wa in the Upper West Region into a state of anxiety and panic.

The incident is the first to happen since the beginning of this year, following 12 such cases in Wa last year.

According to sources, instructors and students at the St. Aiden Anglican elementary school stared in terror and disbelief as police attempted to exhume the remains of the unidentified victim near the school’s park.

Sources at the school indicate that some pupils run into a shallow grave which had bones protruding from it.

Unlike previous cases in Wa township last year, the body discovered had decomposed.

In the last 11 months, around 18 people have been arrested in connection with what is suspected to be ritual killings in Wa.

Sources within the Upper West regional police command indicate that investigations so far have not linked any of the suspects to the killings.

While some of the suspects have been freed due to medical reasons, others are still being held in custody pending additional inquiries.

However, locals claim that the killings in the Wa township are becoming too frequent and that the police ought to put an end to them.
