One confirmed case of cholera has been recorded in Bono Region.
An unnamed 10-year-old girl from the Dormaa Municipality was the victim of the confirmed case.
The specimen was collected and taken to the Bono Regional Hospital for further investigation.
Health Directorate said it suspected an outbreak on January 3, 2023, and alerted the region.
In a statement issued by the Bono Regional Director of Health, Dr. Kofi Amo – Kodua, all heads of the various health facilities are to conduct investigations into all suspected cases and collect specimens for laboratory confirmation.
“You are also to intensify education on the prevention of cholera and other epidemic – prone diseases”, the alert said.
Meanwhile, all medical directors are required to submit an updated epidemic preparedness plan for cholera to the Regional Health Directorate through the Disease Surveillance Unit by Monday, January 16.
