Alexander Djiku Banned from French League

Ghanaian centre back, Alexander Djiku has been banned by the Ligue De Football (LFP) in France after investigations concluded over widespread betting by players and officials.

The organisation through rigorous investigations and later meetings in November and December 2022, has decided to sanction players, coaches and managers of professional clubs who did not respect the ban on sporting betting laid down by the Sports Code, for the 2020/2021 season.

Alexander Djiku a Black Stars player was part of the 26 Ghanaian players who were in Qatar at the just ended World Cup.

The LFP in its statement, “The Commission recalls that those involved in competitions organised by the FFF or the LFP (in particular players, coaches, managers of professional football clubs) are generally prohibited from betting, online or in physical networks, on all football competitions, whether domestic or foreign.”

Alexander Djiku who plays for RC Strasbourg Alsace Plays in the French Ligue one and faces a on match ban.

Sanctioned offenders sum up to 76 with the severely punished being Samu El Khiar who faces a 4-match ban with a € 2,000 fine.

With the least being one-match suspensions for Amine Bassi, Sacha Delaye and Alexander Djiku.
